(Jul 2) (tsn.ca) Like fine wine, the new RAW just keeps getting better with age.
In a televised main event for the ages, Jeff Hardy and Undisputed Champion The Undertaker put on a fantastic ladder match for the crowd on WWE's flagship Monday night program.
In a classy move to put over the younger talent, Taker entered the ring first. Jeff then came down and got on the Dead Man's motorcycle to draw him outside the ring. Jeff then raced into the ring, bounced off the ropes, and dropkicked a ladder into Taker's chest. He then followed with a crossbody onto the champ.
The Undertaker regrouped and went to toss Jeff headfirst into a ladder, but Jeff slipped away and was able to put the ladder on Taker's chest and came down with a leg drop. Taker then dropped Jeff on the announce table and threw him into the ring barrier. When they re-entered the ring, Jeff began to hammer away with right hands, but Taker then hit him in the face. He followed up by sandwiching Jeff in a ladder and landing a leg drop off the ring skirt. But Jeff hung in and eventually nailed the Whisper in the Wind.
Hardy capitalized and began climbing up the ladder toward the WWE Championship belt suspended above the ring. Taker, however, picked him up to attempt the Last Ride. In an impressive feat, Jeff turned it into a hurracanrana that sent Taker out of the ring. Jeff tried climbing up the ladder again, but Taker hit him with a steel chair to knock him down. Taker again went for the last ride, but Jeff reached down and picked up the steel to clock Taker in the face. Jeff went up the ladder again, but Taker recovered, climbing the ladder and chokseslamming Jeff to the mat. Taker then reached up and unstrapped the championship and got on his bike with the victory. However, he went back into the ring and punished Jeff with the Last Ride, then began to ride away.
To make things even more intense, Jeff crawled over and picked up a microphone to say that the Dead Man 'hadn't broken him yet.' The Undertaker came back down and was about to beat Jeff again, but stopped. In a move reminiscent of his congratulations to John Cena (last week on Smackdown!) Taker patted Jeff Hardy on the head and raised his hand as RAW went off the air.
